NorthEast Electrical Distributors/Eagle Electric Supply, a Sonepar USA Company, Announces Winner of New Friday Night Lights Contest
CANTON, Mass., December 21, 2007 – NorthEast Electrical Distributors/Eagle Electric Supply, based in Canton, Mass., and a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, has announced that Legion Field in Bridgewater, Mass., is the winner of the 2007 New Friday Night Lights community sweepstakes and will receive a brand new Cooper Lighting outdoor lighting system and installation valued at over $60,000. The new lights, which will light up the field for Bridgewater’s youth football league, will be installed by the beginning of the 2008 football season.
"We are so thrilled with the outpour of community involvement that this contest has brought to New England,” stated Don Block, President of NorthEast Electrical Distributors and Eagle Electric Supply. “Congratulations to everyone who participated and made New Friday Night Lights a great success in 2007. This contest is just one small way of giving back to our local community which we have been serving for over 75 years.”
New Friday Night Lights, which was co-sponsored by WEEI-AM in Boston, attracted entries from 30 cities and towns around New England from August through September and involved more than 300,000 on-line votes from community members.
"Through our partnership with WEEI, we were able to reach out to the proud sports community of New England, which enjoyed a banner year in 2007,” stated Block. “The New Friday Night Lights contest is a great way to get the NorthEast-Eagle brand out to the communities that we serve, but more importantly, we are able to lend a hand to the area’s youth football programs, which often lack necessary funding.”
The contest was open to any youth football fields in all cities or towns in the following states: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and Connecticut. Entry into the contest was only accepted from an authorized town or city representative. All entries were required to include both a digital photo of the football field, and a short essay (250 words or less) describing why the city/town deserved to win the contest.
Once the entries were received, a voting phase began on October 1 st, 2007 and lasted through November 30 th in which all eligible entries were posted on www.newfridaynightlights.com, and the public was invited to vote. A total of over 300,000 votes were cast. For every 850 votes received for a specific football field, that football field received one (1) entry in the grand prize drawing.
